Our corner of downtown Cary has long been a center of service. In 1934, R. O. Heater moved Cary's old post office building to this site and redeveloped it as Cary Service Station. It sat at the intersection of North Carolina's first paved road and welcomed the growing stream of motorists traveling through the heart of Cary. In 1951, our namesake, K. M. Lloyd, opened Lloyd’s Amoco Service here, carrying on the tradition of the “full service” filling station, where extra care for motorists was simply part of the job. In 1978, Turkish immigrant and former restaurateur Gürkan Sener purchased the station, bringing his warmth and spirit of hospitality to the cheerful looking place on the corner and inspiring the idea that, at Lloyd’s, service is our business.
